Wear layers

Wear layers

Wear layers are synthetic floor finishes designed for heavy (mechanical) loads, such as in industry, bridges, and viaducts. At SealteQ, we apply wear layers that provide long-term protection for structures against intensive use and weather conditions. This includes bridge decks, parking garages, and ramps that experience heavy daily traffic. Our wear layers are abrasion-resistant, anti-slip, and resistant to de-icing salts and UV radiation.

Each surface requires the right preparation and materials. We first ensure optimal adhesion through blasting or cleaning. Then, we apply a primer and synthetic resin layer, which is sprinkled with crushed stone or other scatter material. Finally, a finishing layer is applied to provide extra protection and a safe, anti-slip finish. Thanks to rapid curing, we can execute projects efficiently with minimal disruption to users.

Advice and customization

Every situation is different. Our specialists work with you to assess the load, the substrate, and the desired lifespan. Based on this, we recommend the appropriate structure and materials for a wear layer that will last for years.

At SealteQ, we combine this customization with craftsmanship and years of experience. Thanks to our nationwide coverage, specialized teams, and modern techniques, we offer sustainable solutions with minimal inconvenience during implementation.

New Wearing Course Boskampsbrug in Havelte

SealteQ recently provided the Boskampsbrug in Havelte with a new, durable wearing course. The work was carried out to make the bridge future-proof and keep it safe for intensive use. This renewal ensures that the bridge deck meets the highest standards in terms of durability, wear resistance and safety, so that road users can continue to count on a reliable and safe passage in the years to come.

New wearing course of bridges Den Helder

In the municipality of Den Helder, the specialists from SealteQ Ivacon (Amsterdam) have provided two bridge decks with a new, durable wear layer. This was done on behalf of construction company Klein Wieringen. In the past, we have repaired bridges and provided new wear layers in the same municipality on several occasions.

Maintenance of Fregelaan parking garages in Amsterdam

In the recent period, we have been working on three parking garages on Fregelaan in Amsterdam. We have resolved water leakages, performed concrete repairs, and provided the ramps with a new wear layer. First, we addressed the leaks caused by the overhead roof gardens and walkways. We did this by incorporating all connections and details with a waterproof membrane. This involved the connection between the roof garden and the upstand, the joints of the coping stones, and the joints of the walkways and stairs.

IJplein ferry: a new bridge for cyclists and pedestrians

As the Amsterdam ferries across the IJ river become increasingly busy, the Municipality of Amsterdam decided to install a brand-new bicycle and pedestrian bridge. SealteQ Noord's specialists are applying a coating system and a wear layer to the deck of the new IJpleinveer bridge, ensuring it will last for many years.

A great bridge season for SealteQ

SealteQ's specialists have already provided coatings and wear layers for at least ten bridges in the ongoing 2021 season. This includes brand new bridges and existing ones requiring specialist maintenance. We work for and with partners or directly for government authorities such as provinces, municipalities, and Rijkswaterstaat. Through a combination of having the right resources at our disposal and years of experience, we find a solution for virtually every bridge.

Renovation and refurbishment work on H.N. Werkman bridge in Groningen

You encounter it more often these days... Due to the consequences of the COVID-19 virus, there are fewer people on the streets. An interesting twist to this is that projects that were not immediately scheduled, but planned for the near future, are being brought forward. The public then experiences less 'inconvenience' from the effects of the work. The H.N. Werkman Bridge, the well-known bridge next to the Groninger Museum, is one such project that has been moved forward. Commissioned by the municipality of Groningen, the renovation and refurbishment work started in week 17.
