Foundation repairs in Ten Boer

Foundation repairs in Ten Boer

In Ten Boer, SealteQ’s specialists carried out foundation repairs on behalf of Van Wijnen as part of the Sustainable Restoration (DZH) programme, with the Groningen Mining Damage Institute (IMG) acting as the ultimate client. Following the baseline assessment, which accurately documented the building’s initial condition, our specialists set to work using a targeted injection technique.

Grout balls were injected into the subsoil at three different depths using lances. These balls provide extra bulk beneath the foundation, ensuring that there will be sufficient resistance for the injection material to press against. AP430W was then injected; this is a polyurethane that adapts to the shape of the application: as a sphere, it immediately provides greater load-bearing capacity directly beneath the foundation; as a column, it displaces the surrounding soil, thereby increasing the load-bearing capacity of the subsoil.

Intensive grouting took place over a period of five weeks. Throughout the entire process, settlement was monitored using Snagstream measurements, which showed that the building remained completely stable.

The foundation repairs are not the final stage for this building: Quakeshield, the solution for reinforcing the walls as well, will follow shortly.
