Introducing youth to technology, of course you can’t start early enough. SealteQ therefore enjoyed participating in the BOTSS festival again last Tuesday and Wednesday. BOTSS stands for Bedrijven Onderwijs Techniek Stimulering Stadskanaal. It is a technique and technology festival for children of group 7 and 8 of elementary school and first grade of secondary school.
At our booth the children could do, among other things, a reinforcement test. On the table, as an example, was a piece of cardboard that had 5 pounds of material resting on it. We then challenged the children to think about how you could reinforce that piece of cardboard using XXL cocktail sticks and tape. The children enthusiastically got to work on that and many creative constructions were made. Then we showed another test with PU resin. This allowed us to show that if you mix three liquid ingredients, you get a nice foaming effect that later hardens. All to show how diverse engineering can be.
The BOTSS festival was organized by Scholengemeenschap Ubbo Emmius and Noorderpoort Beroepsonderwijs Stadskanaal.
