The Cultuurgebouw in Hoofddorp refitted with a new non-skid floor coating

A floor that has become slippery through frequent use and shows signs of wear deserves to shine again. For safety purposes, the floor must also be made sufficiently non-slip again. This can be achieved with an anti-slip floor coating. SealteQ Ivacon has carried out the floor restoration on behalf of the Cultural Building. With a new anti-slip floor coating, the floors are once again safe and well-protected for the coming years. The Cultural Building is a special complex where various facilities come together in one building. Due to the high footfall, a good, safe floor is a requirement.

The work

The anti-slip floor coating was applied to the existing cast floors. The floors were first wet cleaned using a scrubbing machine and degreaser. They were then dried using a wet vacuum. The floor was dry sanded using a woodboy and sanding nets. After sanding, minor damage was repaired. The 1st coating layer was then applied. This layer was provided with anti-slip aggregate. After sufficient curing of the 1st layer, the 2nd coating layer was applied, also provided with anti-slip aggregate. BASF MasterTop TC 428 was used for both coating layers. The anti-slip aggregate consists of 100-200 µm. µm indicates the roughness value of the anti-slip aggregate.

Delivery

The planning and risks of an assignment were properly mapped out and discussed before the start of the work. Because the colleagues were also well-coordinated, the assignment could be carried out efficiently. No special incidents occurred. In mid-April 2020, we delivered the project to the client’s complete satisfaction.

Renovation and refurbishment work on H.N. Werkman bridge in Groningen

You encounter it more often these days... Due to the consequences of the COVID-19 virus, there are fewer people on the streets. An interesting twist to this is that projects that were not immediately scheduled, but planned for the near future, are being brought forward. The public then experiences less 'inconvenience' from the effects of the work. The H.N. Werkman Bridge, the well-known bridge next to the Groninger Museum, is one such project that has been moved forward. Commissioned by the municipality of Groningen, the renovation and refurbishment work started in week 17.
