The balconies on Betje Wolffstraat and Roemer Visscherstraat were rejected by an external party based on a CUR 248 investigation. These balcony slabs did not meet the requirements for structural safety. An effective measure to increase the strength capacity of the cantilevered balcony slabs is to apply additional reinforcement, in this case rebar. Slots were made in the balcony slabs. Subsequently, the rebar was placed in the slots and glued. After that, the slots with rebar were poured with a repair mortar.
New Coating System on the Balconies
After the reinforcement work was carried out, the balconies were pre-treated. The substrates were cleaned and then roughened by means of dust-free sanding and freed from cement residues and other irregularities. As a result of the pre-treatment, good adhesion of the substrate was achieved. After this, the coating system was applied. The coating system consists of a primer, coating with anti-slip and flakes, and a seal layer. Thanks to the above reinforcement work, the balconies once again meet the structural requirements.
