As part of corporate social responsibility, SealteQ has, for the third consecutive season, in collaboration with the Municipality of Stadskanaal, offered people distanced from the labor market the opportunity to follow a training program to become a construction painter.

Collaborations like these present excellent opportunities for both parties; for SealteQ to attract new, motivated personnel, and for benefit recipients to follow a training program for a promising profession, in this case, construction painter, through a trial placement. If it works well for both sides? Then an employment contract for a minimum of 6 months is signed!
The training to become a construction painter consists of two parts: theory and practice. This year, the practical assignment took place on De Rode Loper (The Red Carpet). This pedestrian and bicycle bridge was made available by the municipality and is the flagship of Stadskanaal. As the red color had faded over time, this was seen as an excellent opportunity to learn the trade. In September 2018, the candidates re-conserved the entire interior of the 56-meter-high Rode Loper in its characteristic red color.
Completion
In recent weeks, the exterior has also been addressed. From a cherry picker positioned on the Rode Loper, the majority of the exterior was painted. The N366 near Stadskanaal was closed for two weekends. This was necessary to safely conserve the exterior above the road surface. The work has now been completed, and the Rode Loper once again lives up to its name.
