Osmosis from the subfloor caused detachment (blisters) in the applied polyurea underlayer. Inspection also revealed blistering in part of the recreation pool and toddler pool. After consultation with the client, it was therefore decided to replace or overlay the entire competition pool and parts of the floor in the recreation pool and paddling pool with a new layer of polyurea (hot spray). After thorough pre-treatment, stripping, blasting and cleaning of the floors, walls and gutters, the system was rebuilt. In 1 week, the floors, approx. 1050 m2, were provided with a new polyurea layer and approx. 1600 m2 with a primer layer, 2 color layers white and a clear finishing layer. As a finishing touch, the new lining has been applied. We were able to realize this short lead time because SealteQ has expertise in airless spray application of the coating system. During the application, the entire bath was equipped with temporary waterproof tent structures with climate control. All in all, a successful project that will be followed up with 2 more baths. The good cooperation between the client on the one hand and the (sub)contractors on the other was the key to success and timely delivery. The swimming pools have been put into use by the municipality of Harderwijk to their full satisfaction.
