New coating system Sloterparkbad Amsterdam

The summer season is an ideal time for maintaining indoor swimming pools. In recent months, our team has been working at the Sloterparkbad in Amsterdam. The Sloterparkbad is one of the largest swimming facilities in the Netherlands.

It was built to a design by architect Roy Gelders. The facility has multiple indoor pools, and there are also outdoor areas for swimming and play.

Diving pool
SealteQ Ivacon has carried out work on the diving pool. This pool measures 20 by 15 meters and is 5 meters deep. This depth is required for the diving tower, which has platforms at 3, 5, 7, and 10 meters. On the other side of the pool there are two 1-meter springboards and two 3-meter springboards.

Scope of work
Our team applied a new coating system to the pool walls and floor. We first set up the site and installed a ventilation/extraction system for air circulation. We also implemented measures to keep dust to a minimum. We then got to work. We supplied and installed epoxy trowel mortar skirting and edges, and replaced part of the damaged tiling. We then continued with the preparations for applying the coating. First, the surface was abrasive blasted. To do this, we used a mini crane to place the blasting machine in the pool. After blasting, we applied the coating. This coating protects the pool walls and floor, and the attractive blue color immediately gives the pool a fresh appearance. Finally, we reinstated the lane markings, leaving the pool fully ready for use again.
