A parking garage at an institution like the UMCG must be constantly available. Work that limits capacity is a significant disruption to daily operations. Short lead time and strict planning and working day and night (24/7). Many of the preparatory works were carried out at night. The surface preparation (of all three levels) consisted of removing the existing coating and irregularities. This also made the existing damage visible. This was done through low-dust blasting, after which the entire surface was cleaned and made dust-free.
After carrying out the necessary concrete repairs, the entire floor was leveled and then the entire floor surface was provided with an epoxy primer/screed layer. The first layer was applied and scattered with kiln-dried sand. For the second layer, a distinction was made in color scheme. Yellow was chosen for the driving lanes and parking spaces. The walkways were then colored blue. After curing of this layer, the parking spaces, pictograms and line markings were applied. All expansion joints in the floor were also completely renewed.
Phase South: 16,000 m² completed in 6 weeks with a 3-layer coating system.
Phase North: 20,000 m² completed in 6 weeks with a 2-layer coating system.
