Final result of the renovated piers in Bonaire

Red Eye Productions Bonaire has created a film showcasing the final result of the renovated piers in Kralendijk, Bonaire.

Works that extend the lifespan by decades

The renovation of the south pier in Kralendijk began in February 2018 and was successfully completed in December 2018. The work started with renewing the pier’s surface. The surface was renewed with carbon fiber reinforcement and then coated with a double layer of epoxy. Under SealteQ’s supervision, local personnel, in collaboration with Dutch iron workers, installed an additional dolphin. The extra dolphin with a cone fender will facilitate the mooring of large ships. The underside of the pier has been restored with fiberglass reinforcement, which is more resistant to the pier’s salt environment. Additionally, all 147 pillars supporting the pier have been restored with fiberglass casings that were subsequently filled with concrete.

The aforementioned works will significantly extend the pier’s lifespan by approximately 30 years. Rubber protection panels have been mounted on the side of the pier; these protection panels ensure that the pier will not be damaged when ships dock. Additionally, six new rubber fenders have been installed, each weighing 2000 kg. These fenders will prevent ships from colliding with the pier when they are moored.

Cleaning the Seabed

SealteQ, together with other companies involved in the renovation, made a donation of $11,000. This amount will be used to clean up the enormous amount of debris lying on the seabed in the beautiful waters around the harbor and near Klein Bonaire. During the weekend of January 19 and 20, Stinapa, to whom the amount was donated, successfully tackled this pollution with a large number of volunteers (divers).

SealteQ provides supervision in undergrouting of 10-MAN generators in Honduras

SealteQ was approached by Goltens Rotterdam B.V. to provide guidance in the grouting of 10 MAN generators. The work was carried out by local personnel under the supervision of SealteQ. Once all the work is completed, the 10 MAN generators, each weighing 160,000 kilograms and supplied by MAN Energy Solutions, will be able to provide the city of La Ceiba in Honduras with 87 megawatts of electricity.
