Bunker iCOON on Badweg in Hoek van Holland is a monumental structure dating from the Second World War. Today, it houses the iCOON museum of modern art. Balm, part of the SealteQ Group, is responsible for repairing the concrete and restoring the monument to its original condition as much as possible.
Concrete repair of monumental bunker in Hoek van Holland
The bunker is sunken below street level and has been painted over the years with various types of paint in a range of colours. The rough, original concrete is the most characteristic element of iCOON. Concrete repair is necessary to preserve the monument properly. The layers of paint and coatings are removed using turbo blasting. Cracks are injected and the historic concrete is repaired by hand.
This will restore this unique war memorial to its authentic appearance and preserve it for the future.
