SealteQ Noord’s specialists have been engaged to apply a cathodic protection system (CP system) to the underside of the -1 floor in the garage. This system is applied to floor slabs exhibiting cracks and significant signs of leakage. The objective is to halt the corrosion process of the reinforcement at the bottom of the floor slabs. This corrosion process is caused by de-icing salts (road salt) carried into the garage by vehicles during the winter period. Because some floor slabs are cracked, the aggressive salt can penetrate the concrete structure and cause damage to the underside of the floor.
Not all slabs are cracked; therefore, only the affected slabs on the underside have been treated with the CP system. This targeted approach ensures the safety of the entire garage floor.
First, our specialists thoroughly cleaned the entire concrete surface of all floor slabs and expertly repaired all existing concrete damage. Subsequently, a CP system with impressed current, based on a conductive coating system, was applied to several of the slabs. Finally, a protective/aesthetic coating system was applied everywhere to ensure a uniform appearance across the entire surface.
