In many steel-reinforced steel fiber concrete floors, saw cuts – expansion joints – are made to accommodate shrinkage or expansion (thermal behavior) of the floor after pouring. Numerous defects arise due to factors such as insufficient post-treatment, settlement of the subsoil, and inadequate expansion capacity. These issues lead to inconvenience and damage when the floor is in use.
Clients and users often approach SealteQ after numerous repairs have already been attempted to solve these problems. Unfortunately, our experience shows that most of these repair efforts fail to provide a lasting solution within two years of execution. The problems recur.
SealteQ’s Repair Solution
Our innovative solution has now been proven. In essence, our method involves sawing and milling at least 50 to 60 millimeters of the existing steel fiber concrete floor in the damaged area. We then clean the substrate, apply the appropriate reinforcement and/or dowels, and anchor them. Subsequently, we pour a high-strength, fast-curing steel fiber concrete mortar over it. We meticulously post-treat this and then finish the floor smoothly and evenly.
In some situations, additional measures are necessary, such as grouting beneath the floors. Occasionally, no major structural intervention is required, and superficial repair suffices.
We achieve the best results through perfect control of the pouring process. For instance, we meticulously monitor the temperature development during curing and the post-treatment of the mortar. Furthermore, thanks to meticulous planning and thorough prior organization, the execution time is kept as short as possible. After completion, a floor can be fully loaded with heavy equipment, such as a forklift, within two days.
