An Overview of the Possibilities per Binder
- Epoxy systems are extremely strong and liquid-tight. This makes an epoxy floor particularly suitable in industries where high demands are placed on mechanical and chemical resistance. The application of an epoxy system can be done through multiple roller layers or as a poured floor.
- Polyurethane systems in roller layers for minor movement in the substrate and applied as a poured floor for crack-sensitive substrates. In addition, polyurethane, unlike epoxy, is virtually insensitive to discoloration by UV light and these products are used for higher aesthetic requirements.
- Polyurea systems are largely comparable to polyurethanes in terms of properties. However, an advantage lies in the sprayability (including hot-spray method) which allows for quick application and rapid load-bearing capacity.
Properties of the applied material
In addition to the possibilities in terms of binder, there are also many other material properties or functional characteristics that can be influenced or adjusted. These include:
- the speed of drying and curing;
- the degree of recoatability;
- processing at low temperatures or high humidity;
- the degree of anti-slip;
- and many other important product properties.
