The reinforcement operation must continue, according to former National Coordinator Hans Alders. When Minister Wiebes postponed the reinforcement operation, Alders had had enough; he submitted his resignation. For three years Alders has fought hard for the Groningers, but so far with little result. That is why the coalition now wants to speed up the reinforcements. Groningers in the area are wondering how to proceed with strengthening homes. Earlier there was talk of 20,000 houses where this has to be done. Contractors, including QuakeShield, want the government to clarify quickly how many houses will have to be reinforced, and how.
Clarity reinforcement operation
Yesterday we were interviewed about this in the NOS News. Peter Westra: “You want to be able to recoup your investment somewhere, so for us it’s important to know what investment we can make and over how many homes we can recoup that.” Martin van der Leest adds: “The reinforcement operation will also be there soon, it’s just a question of what the scale will be.” The cabinet is waiting for opinions, which are due early next month. Then it will become clear how to proceed with reinforcing.
