A crucial part of the restoration was the steel roof. This roof not only forms an essential component of the architecture but also needs protection against weather effects. To ensure this, the steel was carefully treated: first, the surface was thoroughly cleaned and pre-treated, after which it was given a durable coating to achieve optimal adhesion. Thanks to this preservation, the roof will remain resistant to wear and other weather and time-related influences for an extended period.
During the works, preserving the original design was paramount. It was a complex and precise job for our construction painters, who ensured that the original design remained intact. Thanks to their meticulous work, the historical character of the building has been fully restored and is clearly visible again.
This restoration ensures that the Groninger Museum will maintain its striking appearance, durability, and cultural value well into the future.
