Renovation of Ter Apel lift bridge

Renovation of Ter Apel lift bridge

We are currently working on a noteworthy project for our client DJK Structures. This project brings together many of our disciplines. The specialists from SealteQ North are working on the Barnflair Bridge.

The Barnflair Bridge is a vertical-lift bridge at the very edge of Ter Apel, towards the German border. The bridge dates from the 1960s and was therefore long overdue for renovation. On site, we hand-painted the lifting towers and the bridge operator’s cabin. We blast-cleaned and recoated the lift span from the water using pontoons. The approach spans were dismantled and fully blast-cleaned and recoated in the workshop.

In spring, our concrete division will replace the wearing course and carry out the necessary concrete repairs. All in all, a fine project so close to home.
