Multipaint and the renovation of the Galecopper Bridge

From 2013 to 2015, Rijkswaterstaat renovated the Galecopperbrug on the A12 near Utrecht. With over 200,000 vehicles per day, the Galecopperbrug is the second busiest bridge in the Netherlands. The bridge was reinforced and the road surface renewed. The bridge was eventually jacked up in July 2014, bringing the passage to the level of "Rhine navigation height." The sections for the reinforcement of the Galecopperbrug were produced in the Multipaint cabin in Burgum.

Multipaint is often involved in components of large projects, and the cabin in Burgum offers us the opportunity to treat and preserve complete bridge sections, for example. The work for the Galecopperbrug is no exception. The renovation ensures that the bridge becomes stronger and that ships with a higher load can pass under the bridge. The Galecopperbrug will remain a safe connection for at least thirty years, ensuring that the Netherlands remains easily accessible: by road and by water.

Six sections for the approximately three-meter high and two and a half meter wide steel girders were treated on behalf of BSB Staalbouw. After blasting, a 3-layer system was applied to provide sufficient protection to the girder. Multipaint treated more than 2,000 square meters in this way in a few months. A short information film from Rijkswaterstaat on YouTube shows how the girders are installed. Watch this film at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vBopBghrjI Our cabin in Burgum is ideal for these activities, because the dimensions of the components to be treated can be large. Because at Multipaint, no job is too big.
