Large-scale concrete renovation Coking Plant Maastricht

SealteQ South has performed a large-scale concrete renovation at the historic Coking Plant on the Cabergerweg in Maastricht. The 1912 building is one of the oldest industrial national heritage sites in the Netherlands and was originally part of the municipal gasworks, designed by architect Jan Gerko Wiebenga.

Our specialists carried out a thorough inspection of the existing concrete structure, constructed of reinforced concrete and containing substantial amounts of rebar. During the restoration, elements such as columns, beams, buttresses, floors, walls and roofs were carefully surveyed and repaired in phases in accordance with the guidelines of the Komo BRL3201 certificate.

In addition, we precisely reconstructed a missing section of the original internal stairwell and formed, reinforced and cast it in situ. At the request of the client, V. Loellmann, a unique terracotta/orange shotcrete finish was applied, with several tests required to achieve the exact color and desired rough texture.

Alongside the restoration work, entirely new concrete structures were built, including several concrete walls and a completely new stairwell. In doing so, SealteQ Zuid is actively contributing to the preservation and future-proofing of this remarkable monument.

Our efforts focused on restoring the historic appearance and enhancing structural safety, ensuring this heritage asset is ready for the future.
