Vrijs soon discovered that the biggest bottleneck in the maintenance project was that some parts of the steel roof structure were not easy to reach. “You need spider platforms for that, but how do you reach the soccer field and bleachers with large equipment if the doors aren’t big enough to get through? This was apparently not well thought out when the stadium was designed. Hoisting an aerial platform into the stadium turned out not to be an option. Working from scaffolding was also ruled out, because it would be too much of an obstacle when football is played again in the stadium with the public. The same goes for the suspension bridge, and the roof construction is not strong enough for that either. We also considered abseilers, but the project is less suitable for that,” he explains. <\/em><\/p>
