The major maintenance job for the Farmsum Bridge was a &#8220;mission impossible.&#8221; Nevertheless, SealteQ managed to deliver on its promise to Van de Herik &#8211; SPIE, de-rusting the bridges in three weeks and re-applying a <strong>three-layer coating system<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<h3>Three-layer coating system<\/h3>\n<p>Before the bridges could be repainted, the old coat of paint had to be removed. Before removing the old paint layer, blasting work was performed. The bridges were first cleaned and de-rusted to P St 3. then the bridges were repainted with a 3 layer coating system from PPG. <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtvnoord.nl\/nieuws\/188337\/Vanaf-vandaag-maand-lang-omrijden-bij-zeesluizen-Farmsum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Because the waterway remained open<\/a><br \/>\n<\/span>, resulting in 50 to 100 passing ships per day. Work had to be done in a different way. Because of this, it was decided to carry out the work both during the day and at night. To minimize inconvenience to the waterway.
